Change the thoughts and habits that keep the same fights going
Cognitive Behavioral Couple Therapy applies CBT principles to relationships. Partners learn to notice the assumptions, expectations, and automatic thoughts that fuel conflict, and replace unhelpful behavior patterns with more positive, deliberate ones.
The therapist helps you identify thought patterns (like all-or-nothing thinking or blame), test them against evidence, and practice new behaviors such as communication training, problem-solving steps, and increasing positive exchanges.
Sessions are structured with clear goals, and homework between sessions is common. Expect worksheets, thought records, and skill practice you can track over time.
Behavioral and cognitive-behavioral couple therapies are among the most studied approaches, with solid evidence for reducing relationship distress.
